Two things I want to talk about more on FindMeRaw are Hemi-Sync, associated with Robert Monroe, and José Silva’s meditation approach.

I used them during my recovery, and I believe deeply that they helped me. That belief comes from my experience. I can’t separate their contribution from everything else involved in recovering, or say they caused me to regain the use of my arm or my ability to speak.

What I can do is tell you about the practices I used and why they mattered to me. As I write more, I want to look at the research alongside my experience and be clear about the difference.

Tonight, walking home, I was talking about quiet. Since my stroke, quiet has become precious to me. The words that came out were: “There are answers in quiet.”

That feels like a good place to begin this conversation.

I’ll start small. In future posts, I’ll share the specific recordings and meditation exercises I’ve used, how I used them, and what I noticed. I’m interested in what other people have experienced, too.

Have you used Hemi-Sync or Silva meditation? What was it like for you?
