I had to learn to communicate again after my stroke. That experience is part of why I’m writing Starting Over at 55. Here’s a short excerpt from the forthcoming book.
Regaining my speech and cognitive abilities is also part of my story. My work in customer service involves listening, understanding a question, and explaining what can happen next. My earlier banking and sales experience gave me skills to draw on. Stroke recovery belongs in any honest account of my return to using those skills.
Today, I’m working, writing, taking photographs, and finding more opportunities to talk with people face to face. There’s still plenty I’m figuring out. I want this book to make room for that part of rebuilding, too.
Starting Over at 55 is still being prepared for publication. I’ll share more excerpts and updates here on FindMeRaw.
